The Birmingham Black International Film Festival (BIF FESTIVAL)

The Birmingham Black International Film Festival (BIF FESTIVAL) is calling for ALL film submissions for this year’s festival, due to take place in Birmingham, UK, 26th Oct – 1st Nov 2008, with the chance of a shortlist place at this year’s Awards ceremony!
The BIF FESTIVAL is a film festival with a difference! Incorporating Music, ‘Live’ Arts, and Education, it provides platforms for practitioners and artistes to express themselves, thus facilitating the culturally diverse emerging identities in the community through new and challenging ways.
CALLING ALL COUNTRIES!
BIF FESTIVAL is seeking films from all European countries (including all former Eastern European countries), Worldwide, and of course UK & Ireland, where they will be screened throughout the festival, and the festival associated visual platforms.
All selected films for inclusion in the festival will also be entered into our awards programme for selection for a possible MVSA nominee will be notified and winners announced at the reputable Music, Video & Screen Awards,(M-Visas) taking place at the prestigious ICC Birmingham on Saturday 31st October 2009.
The BIF FESTIVAL comprises five core elements; Film Screening, Music Events, Performance Events, Educational Workshops, and the MVS Awards.
Submissions are not exclusive to people of colour, but must either feature people of colour, address Black issues, be produced by people of colour, or have significant involvement in the film production by people of colour.

Short Films
All shorts should be no longer than 20mins long and made in the last 12 months. Preference will be given to those shorts that have not previously had a public screening in Birmingham, though all shorts will be considered. Entries are invited worldwide. All categories and formats will be considered but must be in English. We are looking for high quality short films with a difference. If you tell a story in a unique way, then we want to see it. Accepted filmmakers must be able to attend the screening.
Features
We are also looking for features to screen throughout the festival, so if you have recently made the transition from short film to feature and have not had your feature screened in the west Midlands, please send it to us.
Documentaries
Any documentaries submitted should have been made in the last 12 months. Preference will be given to those documentaries that have not previously had a public screening in UK, though all entries will be considered. Entries are invited worldwide as long as they are in English. All categories and formats will be considered. We are looking for high quality short films with a difference. If you tell a story in a unique way then we want to see it. Accepted filmmakers must be able to attend the screening

The City of Worcester is famous for many things including its beautiful Cathedral, the splendour of the Guildhall, its role in the civil war, Edward Elgar and black pears to name but a few.
Throughout the year it features many successful festivals and markets popular locally and throughout the land.
A new addition to the calendar for 2009 is the Worcester Feast which takes place in the impressive surroundings of the Cathedral, the Cathedral Gardens and grounds of the historic Commandery.
The Worcester Feast is a festival of fine food and wine sourced locally, nationally and internationally.
The event runs over the 3 days with over 120 exhibitors plus many other features and attractions. This will be an event no self respecting food or wine lover should miss.
Our chosen charity to support at the Worcester Feast is Acorns Children’s Hospice in Worcester and we will be working with them to organise various activities to raise funds for this worthy cause throughout the event.
